The Artist...
Rina Rox is a contemporary abstract artist based in Belgium.
Her work explores layering, rhythm, colour and texture through an intuitive and physical painting process.
Biography
Rina Rox obtained a Master’s degree in Arts and Design from the University of Kyiv and has since developed a distinctive abstract visual language in which layering, rhythm, colour and texture play a central role.
Her work is strongly informed by her travels to more than sixty countries. The impressions, atmospheres and cultural resonances she encounters are not represented literally, but are translated into abstract compositions marked by visual and emotional intensity.
Rox has exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, among other cities, with presentations at the Carrousel du Louvre, BOZAR, the Stadsfeestzaal in Antwerp and EuropArtFair Amsterdam. Her work is held in private collections in Belgium, the Netherlands and Japan.
Through her focus on inner movement, emotional tension and the balance between control and surrender, Rina Rox is developing a distinctive voice within contemporary abstract painting.
Artist statement
My work emerges from an ongoing dialogue between inner movement and outward expression. Each painting is a momentary capture of tension, constructed through layers, rhythms and textures that balance between control and surrender.
Travel forms an important part of my artistic practice. The impressions, colours and atmospheres of more than sixty countries return in my work, not as literal memories, but as abstract translations of what a place or experience leaves behind.
My process is physical and intuitive. Each layer responds to the one before it; each intervention leaves a trace. The textures are not decorative elements but carriers of time, impulse and transformation.
Abstraction gives me the freedom to move beyond the visible. My paintings do not seek to explain, but to evoke. They invite the viewer not to search for what the work represents, but for what it sets in motion.
My paintings are encounters between colour and silence, movement and stillness, the external world and the inner landscape.
